An exploratory direction for developers who want to sell or access small units of digital work. We are evaluating payment-gated APIs, including L402, as a way to connect usage and payment.

A specific resource

Start with a clearly defined result: a specialized research request, a data lookup or a bounded tool call. Define the price, expiry, delivery behavior and failure handling before charging.

Payment and access

L402 combines an HTTP payment challenge with Lightning payment proof and an authorization token. A pilot still needs careful accounting, replay handling and clear service terms.

Bounded agent spending

Any agent-enabled experiment needs explicit budgets, limited credentials and human control. This research does not offer unrestricted autonomous spending or a public paid endpoint today.
